Miley Cyrus didn’t Buckle Her Seat-belt! THE HORROR!

I open up my Internet to look at the news today and one of the articles is “Billy Ray is Sorry He Didn’t Buckle Up.”  It talks about how Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus (who plays Hannah Montana) didn’t buckle up during the filming of a movie.

I understand that this can encourages the trend of teens not buckling up in cars.  At the same time parents can play just as big of a roll as Miley Cyrus can.  Currently most states have seat belt laws, something that is the responsibility of the parents, not Miley Cyrus, to make sure their children obey.

Granted Cyrus is suppose to obey the seat-belt laws as well but I think the article was a little extreme.  It had a poll asking “Miley didn’t wear a seat-belt! Will you ever let your kids listen to/watch her again?”  Unsurprisingly 86% of people said Yes.  Only 9% said no.  The other 5% was undecided.

I’m sorry the big deal here shouldn’t be that Miley Cyrus is a bad role model.  It should be that her and her father broke the law and it is on film.  The people she is influencing are NOT 16 year-olds who are unsupervised when they drive but instead 13 or 14 year-olds where it is the parent’s responsibility to make sure they are safety and obey the law.
